Boise State University’s EDTECH M.E.T Program believes in support and growth of today’s educators who are facilitators of learning and who are interested in continuing their education to benefit today’s learners. In EDTECH 541 I was introduced to and actively used many instructional tools and I also developed several lessons and activities utilizing technology as a tool to help me in the classroom. The Boise State University College of Education’s Conceptual Framework states, “Educators serve learners as reflective practitioners, scholars and artists, problem solvers, and partners.” In order to serve today’s students, teachers must first become what they are trying to cultivate.

In each of the projects I created for EDTECH 541 the AECT standards of DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT, and UTILIZATION were addressed.

Standard1:DESIGN
Candidates demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to design conditions for learning by applying principles of instructional systems design, message design, instructional strategies, and learner characteristics.

The Design standard was addressed through the creation of my Wiki for the class final project, and also the creation of my blog. In addition, every weekly project (found in the menu to the right) addresses this first standard of Design. Instructional strategies were chosen and implemented in lessons I created in The Arts and Internet Integration. Relative Advantage Chart also shows instructional strategies that can work for challenges students and teachers may face. In Hypermedia Integration, special care is taken in the lesson to make sure ELL learners are taken into consideration. Assistive Technology shows that students with special needs can be serviced in better ways with tools and programs that are just for them.

Standard 2: DEVELOPMENT
Candidates demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to develop instructional materials and experiences using print, audiovisual, computer-based, and integrated technologies.

I developed instructional materials incorporating all of the above mentioned methods in the following projects to address the Development standard: Presentation Applications, Spreadsheets and Databases, Hypermedia Integration, Social Networking, Internet Integration, Math, Mobile Learning, and The Arts.

Standard 3: UTILIZATION
Candidates demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to use processes and resources for learning by applying principles and theories of media utilization, diffusion, implementation, and policy-making.

The following projects addressed the Utilization standard: Relative Advantage Chart, Network Project, Instructional Software Project, Internet Integration, Hypermedia Integration, Social Networking, Math, Mobile Learning, and The Arts.
